Where will the workshops be held?

What is your mode of transportation?
We use public transportation including the MetroNorth and Port Authority Bus (for special 1/2 day trips to the orchards).
Can I miss workshops and be refunded?
We would love to say yes but please understand that fees are already factored into all of our activities, materials, trips, etc. Most importantly, however, our workshops are built on previous lessons and we want your child to get the full experience; we will be working on projects so their attendance is very important. But life happens so we are happy to grant full reimbursement for 1 day missed. 2nd day missed, only 1/2 will be reimbursed. More than 2 days, no refunds will be issued.
Who will be leading the workshops?
Founder and Educator, Klara K. Ibarra (see bio) will be the headteacher. NY State law mandates a 1:15 ratio for children over 8. However, with 14 students enrolled we will bring on board an assistant who has experience teaching and has a clean record (fingerprinted and background check).
Can my child invite a friend?
Yes! 1-2 friends are invited per semester per child. But please be sure to inform me ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly.
Are you CPR certified and trained in First Aid?
Yes!
Do you need any forms from us?
Yes. You will receive these forms electronically upon your online registration. We will need a photo release form, emergency contact form and permission slip for local field trips.
Where will you be spending most of your time?
We will spend more than 50% of our time outdoors gardening, visiting farms, rooftops gardens, visiting different neighborhoods to learn about cultures, and doing plant identification and exploring in NYC parks. We will also be indoors to make all the wonderful foods, drinks, dyes, herbal remedies, and more.
My child has severe allergies. Do you think my child would be safe in this program?
As you know, allergies, degrees of sensitivity, and types of reactions vary. Please email us for a personal consultation so that we can discuss together what would be best for your child. info@thegreenworldproject.com
My child is really into video games. Do you think he/she will enjoy this program?
Yes! Those are exactly the kids we want to inspire to reconnect with nature. We will make sure your child discovers something amazing that will be a turning point for him/her. Most importantly, it's the exposure to a new realm that is important. When they are ready (at any time in their life), they will draw from these experiences and lessons and be able to reflect on them again.
